Andy Murray v Stanislas Wawrenka
Eked – not a word I used often.
Dictionary definition:
1.Manage to support oneself with difficulty: “they eked out a living from the soil”.
2.Make an amount of something last longer by using or consuming it frugally: “the remains could be eked out to make another meal”.
Just about sums up the profit I made on Star Spreads on the Bristol derby last night. Buying City supremacy at 0.8 gave me the tiniest of profits but to be frank I was grateful for that after Rovers drew level after 59 minutes.
I’m not sure who ever came up with the saying about ‘never going skint taking a profit’ which is true, of course, it’s just the losses in-between that cause the problems 
Anyway – we head from Ashton Gate to Flushing Meadows (don’t you just love the variety of sports betting!). It’s quarter final time at the US Open and defending champion Andy Murray takes on Stanislas Wawrinka tonight (live on SKY).
Murray looked a little lethargic in his previous round and will need to be sharper against the Swiss player who beat him easily when they last met – although it was on a clay surface which doesn’t favour Murray.
Murray’s overall record against Wawrenka is very strong and surely he will step up a gear tonight as he continues his quest to defend his first Grand Slam.
