Goodbye Giovanni Trapattoni

A nice profit from my slightly unpatriotic bet last night – selling goals in the Austria v Republic Of Ireland game.

The sell at 2.5 never looked in danger and we nearly got the lot but for Austria’s 84th minute winner.

Unfortunately it was a case of goodnight Vienna in terms of Ireland’s World Cup hopes and less than 24 hours after the match it’s also a case of goodbye Giovanni Trapattoni.

That was hardly a surprise as the 1-0 defeat left Ireland with only a remote mathematical possibility of catching Sweden to take second place in Group C.

After meeting with the Football Association of Ireland, Trapattoni and his assistant Marco Tardelli left by the revolving door exit.

No bet on Thursday – but I have a Star Spreads bet lined up for Friday’s League Two match between Southend and Scunthorpe.
