Eight points clear in the Scottish Premiership and another title at their mercy, Celtic face a tougher task tonight in the Europa League against the Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.

The two teams clash for the first time and this will be Zenit’s first competitive match since December as the Russian top flight has a winter break.

As long as the Russian’s aren’t too ring rusty we should be able to rely on goals. Zenit scored 17 goals in the 2017-18 Europa League group stage; more than any other team in the competition.

Celtic’s form is on a dip both domestically and certainly in Europe. They have lost their last four European matches, with the aggregate score in these matches standing at 2-13.

They also lost their latest league game 1-0 to Kilamarnock and had to work hard to get past Partick 3-2 in their recent Scottish FA Cup game.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has a number of injury problems. Goalkeeper Craig Gordon, Patrick Roberts, Stuart Armstrong and Jonny Hayes are all on the sidelines.

Leigh Griffiths is also struggling for fitness with a calf injury and Dedryk Boyata is also out.
