Roscommon
An eight race mixed card at Roscommon this afternoon opens with the seven furlong juvenile maiden at 3.05. The fact that Aiden O’Brien dispatches Foot Soldier to contest this race should be duly noted, while Custom Cut and the luckless Beau Amadeus are others to consider.
The seven furlong handicap (3.35) affords a nice opportunity for Indian Landing to notch a hat trick of victories around the Western circuits, while Saturday’s Gowran winner Smoky Cloud can also be expected to perform with distinction in this company.
Kasanaka looks gilt-edged for Oxx and Murtagh in the fillies’ maiden, a race where the consistent, if somewhat luckless, Crystal Highness should run onto a place.
The apprentice handicap looks difficult, but a small play on both the top weight Concrete And Clay and Pat Flynn’s Marcus Attilius could pay dividends.
The featured Kilbegnet chase is next up. This grade three event could concern both Dr Whizz and the consistent mare Shop DJ- the mount of Davy Russell, a rider who can boast a 22% strike rate at the track.
The handicap chase is competitive but the locally-owned Listowel winner Paradis De Thaix could be the solution (with a saver recommended on Pistol Jack).
House Rules cannot be opposed in the four runner novices hurdle (6.05) and the marathon eight race card closes with a weakish looking maiden hurdle, where bookmakers may struggle to lay anything outside of Just For Joe and Dowd’s Angle.
