A seven race National Hunt card brings the curtain down on Sligo’s 2011 season this afternoon. Racing opens at the western circuit with the mares’ chase where Stephanie Kate’s fifth position in the mares’ hurdle at Cheltenham looks outstanding in the context of this race. Expect a prominent showing also from Our Victoria, a consistent mare representing the Colin Bowe camp.

The four runner conditions chase at 4.05 looks booked for Traffic Article, however Vital Plot might just be a little overpriced and could be a reasonable forecast option.

Easily Pleased can be given a big life in the beginners’ chase following a useful third at Ballinrobe on his latest start, while the top horse For Dylan could well run into a place.

The first of the handicap chases sees recent Listowel winner Code Of The West with every chance, while a close market watch is advised on Mighty Bob who could be reasonably handicapped after an absence.

The J.P colours may be involved again in the two mile four beginner’s chase where Abbey Glen can be fancied to open his account over fences after a successful hurdling campaign earlier this year. Jim Bowie, carrying the famous Beef Or Salmon colours, is another to consider particularly when factoring in Tim Carroll’s valuable seven pound claim.

John Hanlon’s remarkable gelding Ardglen seeks a fourth straight win in the three mile handicap at 6.05. Few will want to oppose him in this heat, although the prolific pointer Island Peak is more than worthy of serious place consideration.

Racing concludes with the bumper where the well-bred Meister Eckhart, the subject of some favourable reviews of late, could score at first time of asking. Noble Pageant and Fire Belt look of interest too in what is sure to be a lively betting affair.
