The General campaigns for a tenth success today !

It’s all go this Tuesday afternoon with three meetings down for decision. National hunt action from Lingfield Park and up north at Sedgefield while  all- weather enthusiasts will be pouring over the tricky eight race card at Southwell in the hope of unearthing a winner.

Racing at Lingfield opens with the mares novice hurdle a race where the inform Nicky Henderson team will fancy their chances with Heather Royal ,partnered today by Andy Tinkler.Paul Webber has a 60% strike rate in novice hurdles here at Lingers’ and his entrant Lady Kathleen also commands respect in this contest. In form jockey Jason Maguire comes here for one mount only ,Darna for Kim Bailey in the beginners chase  at 1.20 although he may have to play second fiddle to McCoy’s mount Kid Cassidy running in J.P’s familiar green and gold colours. The opening race from Sedgefield at 1.00 brings together a useful looking bunch of novice hurdlers.Ferdy Murphy runs three in the race with the market the best guide to their respective chances. Significantly the Racing Post spotlight awards the nap vote on the card to Bound For Glory, a respectable second on his latest start at Carlisle. Jockey Dennis O’Regan and trainer Dave O’Meara have a 28% success rate here at the track and Kings Counsel (1.30) might have a chance for this firm in the beginners chase. Ten pound claimer Dean Pratt is a jockey on the up and he  takes the mount on Countrywide Flame in the juvenile hurdle at 2.00.Trained by John Quinn ,this jockey and trainer combo’ enjoy a 57% strike rate together here at Sedgefield.

Course specialist Authentic Act looks for win number five here this afternoon in the two mile handicap chase at 2.30 and racing closes with a tricky looking handicap hurdle at 3.30, a race where the mare Short Supply looks to compliment jockey Robert Walford and trainer Tim Walford’s impressive 30% success rate here at Sedgefield.

An eight race card from Southwell gets under way at 12.10 with the sprint handicap over six furlongs. Watch for Sir Louis ,the trainer jockey combo of Barry McHugh and Richard Fahey have an extremely profitable relationship here at Southwell returning an admirable 60% success rate with their runners at the track.Ingleby Arch (1.10) won this same handicap in 2010 and looks for a ninth course success this afternoon in division two of the six furlong handicap. Meanwhile Jockey Michael Hills has a quiet afternoon in store,he takes one mount only on the card, Mount Crystal in the one mile four maiden at 1.40.

Promising young Donegal jockey Martin Harley has an impressive set of figures when teaming up with trainer Alan McCabe here at Suddy’ and Brio might have a chance for this team in the 51 to 65 handicap at 2.10. Final mention on the card for the versatile six year old General Tufto.Trained by Charles Smith and ridden today by Emily Jones, The General bids for an incredible tenth course win this afternoon in the concluding amateur riders handicap at 3.40 .
