A terrific day’s racing lined up for us today with four meetings for us to look forward to. Pick of the card’s has to be Newbury where a seven race card starts at 12.20.Bangor On Dee gets under way at 12.10 while all- weather fans are well catered for with meetings at Lingfield (12.20 start)
and a matinee fixture at Kempton with a 3.50 start.
The juvenile hurdle at 12.20 gets the show under way at Newbury and it’s a race where the Alan King trained Ardlui is awarded the Racing Post ratings best bet on the day. The novice handicap chase at 12.50 might afford an opportunity for Not So Prudent to shine, given that his trainer has an admirable 25% strike rate in handicap chases here at Newbury.
Watch for Montbazon in the maiden hurdle at 1.25, his trainer Alan King has won this race three times out of the last seven runnings. Ruby will fancy his chances with Polisky in the two mile three at 2.00 while all eyes will be on last season’s star novice Time For Rupert in the graduation chase at 2.35. Jockey Paddy Brennan and trainer Tom George have a 30% strike rate this season, an encouraging stat’ when assessing the chances of Back Bob Back in the handicap chase at 3.05.
Seven races from Bangor where the action gets under way at 12.10.Watch for Irish raider Wilde Rebel in this, jockey and trainer Robbie Colgan and Andy Lynch have a decent strike rate at Bangor of 25%.Henry Daly has a 25% strike rate with his chasers here at the track, a pointer perhaps in the direction of top weight Artic Ben in the handicap chase at 12.40. A competitive novices hurdle at 1.45 with all the big stables represented including Nicky Henderson (Little Fritz) who has a staggering 64% strike rate in these races here .Watch for Pampelonne in the handicap hurdle at 2.50 his trainer Charlie Longsdon has a 33% strike rate in handicap hurdles at Bangor. Final mention for trainer Anthony Honeyball and jockey Rachael Green, a West Country firm that has really being hitting the heights this season with a 33% strike rate.Their entry Dorset Naga in the bumper could be one to side with if the market speaks in her favour.
Lingfield Park’s all weather meeting gets under way at 12.30 with the ten furlong seller. Seb Sanders takes in the mount on Potentiale before plotting a course for the matinee show at Kempton Park later in the afternoon. The market will surely be the best guide to an intriguing two year old race at 1.00 where both Ed Dunlop (Alushta) and John Gosden (Apothecary ,Blaugrana ) introduce nicely bred fillies. Just how will Barry Dennis price this one up?
Beckett and Crowley are a winning formula here at Lingfield and their entry King Of Windsor might be worthy of each way consideration in the ten furlong handicap at 2.10.Watch for Super Frank in the six furlong dash at 2.40 he has won six times already around the Surrey venue .
Racing closes with the twelve furlong handicap a race where Woop Woop looks for her fourth win in quick succession. Watch also in this race for Formidable Guest representing trainer Jamie Poulton who has a 25% strike rate with his handicappers here at Lingfield.
