Eight races from Wolverhampton this evening with a matinee 4.00 start time. Racing opens with an apprentice handicap to be run over one mile in which Greyfriarschorista would appear to have strong claims. Brian Ellison’s charge finished a highly encouraging second in a Mussy’ claimer on his latest start and has course winning form to his credit. Recent course and distance winner and top weight Opus Maximus, is another to consider under the useful three pound claimer David Kenny.

The one mile claimer at 4.30 affords an nice opportunity for the Irish trained Mr Red Clubs to open his UK account .Trained in Longford by Paul Flynn he won a better class race than this at Dundalk last month and his chances are obvious today under Jimmy Fortune. Harry Dunlop’s filly Rafaella looks a bit one paced but receiving the allowances here she has reasonable claims as a viable forecast alternative.

The seven furlong handicap at 5.00 looks  tricky however Alan McCabe has Silver Wind in pretty good form of late and this dual course and distance winner can make his presence felt this evening. Others to factor in could be the recent course and distance winner Berbice, while a close market watch should be observed in relation to the chances of the Irish trained mare Dash Back, a course winner back in  2009.

The nursery handicap at 5.30 is another trappy contest. Top weight Berlusca is considered despite her high draw while others to factor in might be the unexposed Lana Mae (stable had a winner last night) and the first time blinkered Villa Reigns, the mount of in form pilot Luke Morris.

The six furlong maiden at 6.00 looks ear marked for the Marco Botti trained Mezzotint, who belied his odds of 100-1 when finishing a highly commendable second on his one and only start to date at Yarmouth. Sky Crossing is given each way consideration following a useful fifth on his race course debut while the market will reveal the wellbeing or otherwise of the Beckett trained newcomer Hurry Up George.

Estonia is in cracking form at the moment and the Michael Squance trained filly seeks a hat trick of wins in the sprint handicap at 6.30. Four time course winner Grudge is another to consider as is the top weight Red Cape who shoulders a six pound penalty for a recent course and distance success .

The first divide of the six furlong handicap goes at 7.00 and here in a competitive heat the track specialist Ryedane, top weight Mount Hollow and the Dascombe trained filly Libys Dream are suggested against the field.

Racing concludes with the second divide of the six furlong handicap and here once again a tricky contest is on the cards.Ex Irish trained Royal Intruder can go well after an encouraging runner up position at Kempton, Above The Stars comes from a stable who normally do well with their runners here at this venue while the Linda Stubbs trained Ice Trooper is nicely drawn and could go well at a price in this contest.
