It's the Big One

Super Bowl XLVI is upon us, the rematch for the ages, as the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants in mammoth tussle for glory. The two teams are set to take to the field in the Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, to do battle and settle some grudges for good.

Everyone who follows American Football knows what happened in Super Bowl XLII when the Patriots were going for the perfect season of 19-0. If not here is a quick recap: New England came into the Bowl with 18 straight wins and looked like an unstoppable machine. Most people saw the Super Bowl as a formality but the Giants had other plans. Eli Manning and his underdogs shocked the sporting world as they ran out 17-14 winners over the best team the NFL has seen over the past decade. Suffice to say, New England are looking to heal some old wounds.

Back to the game at hand – I see this one being a tight contest with both teams capable of putting scores up on the board. The Patriots star tight end, Rob Gronkowski, has missed some practice this week due to an ankle injury picked up against Baltimore in the NFC title game and will surely be missed if he fails to the field on the 5th.

The Giant’s wide receiver, Victor Cruiz, has been playing some unbelievable stuff over the past few weeks and is sure to be in the running for an MVP award if he can get the Giants over the winning line. When I really look at it I can’t see too much to separate the teams here; I can see this one playing out as a tactical chess match between the two head coaches, and in a game of tactics Bill Belichick is the man you want in your corner.
