Are Barca resting on their laurels?

Beeing a betting man I tend to look at football matches a little different to the ordinary fan. As we have discussed in previous blogs, I find it is usually GREAT value to go against the herd when it comes to betting on any sport.

Now regular readers of this betting blog will know that football is the captain’s domain, so let’s take a look.

Last night Chelsea played Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League Semi-Final. Chelsea came into the game as 9/2 rags (at home, crazy I know). This is not a blog about AFTERTIMING and how they WERE a great bet (but the skipper did fill his boots with the boys in blue); this blog is about how, in my opinion, Chelsea are still the team to get with to reach the final!

Before the first leg win, Chelsea were 5/1 outsiders to qualify for the final. (I have already taken a bit of that). After the 1-0 home win Chelsea are now 2/1 to qualify. (STILL A BET)

The pricing for this semi was crazy. I understand how good a team Barcelona were LAST YEAR! But things change and, let’s face it, this season they’re not even the best team in the Spanish league.

The wonder-team that is Barcelona are not unbeatable (as i read in the papers head-lines yesterday). No team is.

A strong home record would suggest Chelsea will be in for a test but, let’s face it, it’s Chelsea against Barcelona (not Levante) (WHO BARCA COULDN’T BEAT EITHER!)

To sum it up – if you’re running out to the shops to back Barca to retain their Champions League title at 6/5, please stop reading this because I’m obviously not getting through.

Chelsea are a bet to Qualify for the final. Get against Barcelona in every way possible.

Good luck and happy punting. Skipper x
