NFL Trilogy… The Good

There are obviously a number of teams that are consistently good and that is unlikely to change this year. Greenbay are a power house at the moment and have some serious offensive quality, however they do have defensive issues and that may well be there downfall.

The Patriots as always will be good one of the best. However of the teams expected to do well the value may very well be with the Texans.

Houston got beaten in the divisionals last year by a good Ravens team and without there star QB Matt Schub this was a very impressive run. I believe that with Schub at the helm and the 2nd best defence in the league that Houston could have contended for a superbowl.

The Texans draft was not one of the better ones with Whitney Mercilus being there best pick, Mercilus has the potential to be great but he has inconsistencies which will need to be ironed out before he can be a proficient NFL starter, that being said Houston have a great coaching staff that can definitely assist Mercilus in his development.

Houston are massive favourites to win there division which is no surprise but this division could be a lot tougher than people expect. The Colts have obviously picked up a QB that is considered one of the best to emerge from the college arena….. clearly only time will confirm whether this is correct or not but one thing that is clear is that Andrew Luck is certainly a lot more developed than most college QB’s. At Stanford Luck was allowed run the offence to some extent where he called audibles and the line, this is extremely unusual in college football and should enable him to make a real impression in his rookie season and at 28/1 they are a great price for the division in the unlikely event that Houston explode.

Another team at a big price for the division is the Jaguars who have a great defence and the NFLs best RB last season. The Jaguars did manage to move up in the draft to get a great wide receiver in Justin Blackmon but they have some serious questions at the QB position and with there star running back Jones-Drew still locked in a stalemate with the Jaguars over a new contract it is hard to imagine them troubling the Texans unless they resolve there QB issue early in the season.
