What Sport Should My Kids Do?
I have a son of 4 and a daughter of 6 and I wonder what sports they should have a try at to see if they like?
Firstly the daughter – well she’s going to be tall and slim and has already started gymnastics. I reckon tennis because if she’s any good she’ll be one of the top British players and could earn a few readies. If not, well it’s a social game and she can always have a knock around with her old man.
She’s done a bit of footy as well but if she’s any good she might go off to the States and I’d miss her too much. Looking at the Olympians’ body shapes I reckon she’ll make a good high jumper so I might get her interested in athletics.
Now for the son… well he’s a real unit. He’s starting school this year and he’s bigger than most of the kids in year 3. I thought boxing and rugby but the missus says no way, too violent.
The Olympics made me think of rowing where long levers are the clue. I was always getting asked to row at Uni but didn’t give it the time of day, although my big brother won a few cups in his day. Well that’s for the future – he’s learning to swim at the moment. Hang on, big feet is the clue there Thorpedo-style so maybe we’ll get him sorted for Olympic swim.
As I mentioned in my August 4th blog archery is my only chance in the Olympics so maybe they’ll join me in the hunt for big arrers gold.
