Time 'Ticking Away' For Celtic's Rivals

The banter between myself and my colleague ‘Moo’ regarding whether Celtic were a value bet for the SPL Title this season has reached fever pitch in Star Spreads HQ and I feel it only right to respond (yet again) to Malcolm’s latest riposte.

Well let’s just try and ignore all the ‘time ticking away’ nonsense and oooh anyone who has backed them at 33s on can’t be sitting pretty? Well maybe they aren’t sitting pretty but they sure should be sleeping easily!

As Rafa Benitez once famously quoted ‘I only deal in facts’ and the facts as they stand are Celtic lead the SPL by 1 point after comfortably beating Motherwell (away) and have a game in hand. All the 1/13 on Betfair has disappeared along with any realistic challenge to Celtic’s inevitable march to the title.

Perhaps the most depressing factor for all their rivals is the obvious complacency which has plagued Celtic’s early showing hasn’t halted their progress to the top of the table and something which definitely wasn’t factored enough into their opening gift of a price 1/25 was that there is no clear second best in Scotland. The next 4 in the market were all 25s or 33s. The lack of a standout second best will result in all the other teams taking plenty of points from each other thus making it even easier for Celtic (not that they needed it).

Currently the best price on offer is 1/66 so all those shrewdies who took the shoo-ins at 1/25 give yourself a pat on the back!
