5 Most Hated Footballers

Published On October 10, 2012 | By dominic | Tony

It seems that everybody has an opinion on just about everything in the high-speed world that we live in. Opinions are there to see within seconds of any incident, and every indiscretion is there to see, too. I find it hard to understand how anybody can hate another person without getting to know them first, but football has always divided opinions among fans.

I’ll attempt to name the 5 most-hated footballers of all time in this article, but it will have a slant towards English football, as that’s the league I know best.

Christiano Ronaldo

Christiano Ronaldo is one of the most talented footballers that the world has ever seen but he has made he is hated by many. His diving, his arrogance, his shaved legs, all lead towards a strong disliking towards the man. There is no denying his ability at times, but he has done little to make himself loved by the football public.

John Terry

He’s another footballer with loads of money who isn’t happy with what he has and let’s nothing stand in his way if he wants something. Even if their married, he’s all over them like white on rice. He gets a horrific amount of stick at away days and this racism scandal did him no favours whatsoever. Wayne Bridge hasn’t sent him a Christmas card in a while.

Joey Barton

Young or old, male or female, black or white, poor or rich; Joey Barton will not hesitate to punch you in the neck. He served 77 days in prison for beating up a man when he was out with his mate. Yep, he’s that kind of guy. I kind of like him though. Last game at City last season was quality; his behaviour had the hallmark of a man who missed a few hugs when he was younger.

Ryan Giggs

Lock up your wives, Giggsy is on the prowl. To be fair, he’s a pretty amazing footballer given his career lifespan. But his weaknesses for forbidden fruits put him right up there with the John Terry’s of the world.

Robbie Savage

I hate his accent. I hate his face. I hate his hair. I hate his voice. I hate his clothes. I hated his style of play. Have I made my point?
