Arsenal v Spurs Preview

There’s always something special about the North London derby – who can forget how the game at home last season turned Arsenal’s campaign around and broke Spurs? Brilliant stuff. But with both sides going into it on the back of disappointing results, and with Arsenal needing a similar boost again, it’s going to be one which is fairly intense, I’d imagine.

Spurs are on a bad run at the minute, having thrown away their lead against Man City at the weekend, and Edin Dezko banging in a late winner for the blues. The weekend before, they lost at home to a Wigan side that hadn’t won away from home since the first day of the season at St. Mary’s.

Arsenal are Arsenal, they’re going to concede goals. The solid defending that was evident at start of the season has gone to shit now and we’re leaking goals. However they are scoring more now than they were at the start of the season. Theo Walcott is playing as if he wants out and is pushing his price up in time for Christmas, and right now it’s working in our favour. We look more threatening when attacking and with players like Podolski and Giroud starting to link up nicely now, things are looking slightly more promising.

As far as betting goes, I’ll be backing Arsenal to win this one at even money and although over 2.5 goals is as short a 4/7, I still reckon it’s worth a few quid in a game like this. I don’t expect us to dominate, i simply expect that Arsenal will eventually bang in one more goal than Spurs in a 5 goal thriller!

Arsenal alumni love scoring for their new clubs at the Emirates, and with Adebayor involved in this game, I think 5/2 for anytime goal scored is something I’ll also be interested in. Wouldn’t touch it until the starting line-ups come out though, AVB has been a bit unpredictable as of late!

Off to Cheltenham this weekend, hopefully I don’t do my absolute flowstones!
