New Year New Moo

The Irish lads in the office lasted about 3 weeks with their no smoking New Year’s resolution so I thought that’s about the time I should start mine. With me it’s always about the weight loss and despite a recent article stating BMI is biased against the tall I’m going to stick with that system.

Starting weight is 19 stone 7lb and with a height of six foot five this gives a BMI of 32 which is well into the obese. So my first goal is 18 stone which would make me just overweight and then 15 stone which would put me just inside the healthy bracket.

The first should be achievable the second I think not given my track record but who knows. Well to get this thing kick-started the first part of the regime is no chocolate bars and no ice cream – everything else acceptable. Doesn’t sound drastic , and even less so if like the missus you thought I meant just no chocolate ice cream, I know but with chocolate bars of all description laying around the office stopping eating the amount I used to would be a sizable calorie drop.

Let’s see where we are come the end of February hopefully at 18 something and going in the right direction. Also keeping up with the kids in their new endeavours might be a help as they’ve taking up martial arts which they like to use on me and ice skating where I have to go with them as the enforcer making no stray teenagers crash into them.

Health and safety reared its head at the rink where I was told I couldn’t wear my woolly hat as it was a “loose item of clothing”. Anyway despite all this health and safety the missus managed to break her wrist and off we popped to A and E where she got plastered quicker than a teenager on alcopops. Anyhoo I let you know how it’s going at the end of February.
