Premier League Week 1

Published On August 16, 2013 | By dominic | Alan, Featured Post

Here we go! So much still to happen or more likely not happen in the 17 days left of the transfer window. So much speculation and mull still to come from your Sunday morning paper.  More importantly so many questions to be answered regarding the first slate of Premier League fixtures.

Will David Moyes prove his doubters wrong in the premierships biggest job? Is Mourinho capable of turning around the 14 point difference between his Chelsea side and last year’s champions? Can the blue half of Manchester regain former glory under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini? Will Wayne Rooney or Gareth Bale even start for their respective clubs? It’s all up in the air for now so let’s have a look at the live games from an interesting group of Week 1 games.

Liverpool v Stoke City

Brendan Rodger’s men play host to Stoke City, who will be hoping for a better campaign than last season. Stoke have a new manager in Mark Hughes who will look to play his hoof it and hope tactics that served him so well as Blackburn manager, come to think of it a lot like Stoke played last year. Yes you have guessed it, I am not a Stoke fan and I don’t  think they  are a premiership quality team, they were bad last year and that trend is set to continue. Liverpool on the other hand are no mugs at all. They were playing some great stuff towards the tail end of last season and I fully expect them to improve again this year (with or without the Biting Uruguayan). Daniel Sturridge is set to start up top and I will be interested to see how he gets on when given a good run in the starting 11.  I’ll be looking to get with the pool in this one and buying the sup at 1.4 is a solid bet for me. I’ll be surprised if Stoke get too many shot on target never mind goals. With that in mind I am hoping Liverpool can net 2-3 goals and wrap up a comfortable first win of the new campaign.

Swansea v Manchester United

This is a very interesting match for a number of reasons. Mainly as it is Sir David Moyes’  first premier league game in charge of the #Red Devils. This is the same team with a different man at the helm, I understand Alex Ferguson achieved a hell of a lot at this club but it wasn’t him out there scoring the goals. I have never seen an overreaction like this, ‘’The Champions who hosed up last year 3rd in the betting at 3/1??’. Just crazy for me. Looking at the betting for this game I am staggered to see United openly available at 11/10 and 1/1 with fixed odds bookmakers. Am I missing some drastic changes at Old Trafford or is this the same team that finished 9 places ahead of Swansea, 43 points clear of them and most importantly had a better goal difference of 47! As we are a spread betting company I will also be buying Man Utd / Swanse at 0.5 and buying Manchester United team goal rush at 20(just incase R.V.P decides to fill his boots). Man Utd will not lose this game, You have heard it here first. Get the cash out and get the kitty up on the first day of the season.

Bets:

Buy Liverpool/Stoke at 1.4 (2pt)

Buy Manchester United/Swansea at 0.5 (1pt)

Back Manchester United at 11/10 (2pt)
