Premier League Betting Review: By Mark
Pre-season narrative :- new managers at the three ante post favourites including the Special One’s return, Arsene Wenger finds his dusty old cheque book, Spurs swapping their most prized asset for half a new team, Everton doomed for the bottom half shorn of their manager and best player and Liverpool thought that this was the year they finally broke back into the big time. “Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose” – the more things change the more they stay the same.
The top half of the table has a distinct ‘correct’ feel to it, at least with the correct teams there if not the final finishing order. Rumours of Chelsea’s demise seem exaggerated and United are allegedly now in full blown crisis after being brushed aside by a resurgent City yesterday, and although Moyes will be disappointed with 7pts from the first 5 games the fact they have been on the road at City, Liverpool and Swansea should throw up some easier fixtures later in the season. Although certain not to run away with the league again this season they are not quite out of the race with a mere 33 games to go, although backers at 3’s or shorter look a touch foolish now.
Merseyside seems a case of ‘same old same old’ as Liverpool flatter to deceive after a lacklustre week for them with only 1 point from a trip to Swansea and a loss at home to Southampton to the chagrin of 6-4 and 8-13 backers and once again it is Everton who slip under the radar after an impressive unbeaten start. These two teams seem destined once again to fight for the coveted 6th spot. Everton look a good thing for w/o Big 6 honours again.
North London seems to be the capital of the soccer world at the moment with ARSENAL inspired with Ozil and a centre forward who seems capable of actually scoring goals. Never as far off the pace in recent years as the media would have you believe they seems certain to be involved at the business end of proceedings.
The real team to follow appear to be TOTTENHAM. As stated last year the best piece of business done by a Premier League side was to pick up Andre Villas Boas for a ‘free transfer’ after his failure at Chelsea. His new Bale-less team seem full of pace, power and sublime technique. Those who feel that Spurs have no recent history of challenging for the league and may struggle near the end of the season may be in for a nasty and expensive shock.
The future is bright if you are a fan of North London football-they just might be better at football!
