Tour Championship Preview by Tony
The Tour Championship is the traditional end of season tournament where the top 30 players on the money list battle it out for a first prize of $1.44 million and the possibility of a $10 million jackpot of the Fed Ex Cup.
Only the top 5 in the Fed Ex cup standings can guarantee the $10 million jackpot by winning the tournament (Woods, Stenson, Scott, Zach Johnson and Kuchar) and other players will need to win and hope they under perform. It sounds complicated and I am sure the commentators will be updating regularly in their television coverage what is going on.
From a betting perspective once again Tiger Woods heads the market at 5-1 and I believe you do not need to look too far down the list to find the best value bet.
Masters champion Adam Scott is 12-1 and at ¼ 1-4, 3-1 finishing in the top 4 makes him a sound e/w wager in my opinion. He has been challenging in many of the season’s biggest tournaments and this course looks perfect for him. Fairways that are tough to hit and a long course suits the best ball striker around and for an outright bet look no further.
As the top 30 go out in reverse order and the ‘Big 5’ will be playing a cagey early game to keep themselves in the running for the $10 million jackpot there is value in the early starters for 1st round leader. The best of these is Roberto Castro. He has a great record in first rounds throughout the season and is value at 40-1 e/w to be in the first four at the end of day 1.
ADVICE
Outright – 2pts e/w ADAM SCOTT 12-1
