Graham's Weekend Trading Report

Published On November 25, 2013 | By dominic | Graham, Star Spreads

It was another roller-coaster weekend of ups and downs in the Star Spreads trading room, with some big sums changing hands. Overall, we escaped from the weekend with a small profit, but there were a few frayed nerves by the end of Sunday evening.

Saturday

Saturday kicked off with half a dozen Premiership games and our punters wasted no time in getting stuck into the Total Goals market in the Merseyside Derby. You could hear a pin drop in the office when Kevin Mirallas scored for Everton to make it 1-1 after only 8 minutes. We were bang in trouble and it didn’t stop there with the eventual 3-3 result meaning we were staring down the barrel. In the 3pm games we saw plenty of sharp money for Southampton and Hull on the Supremacy markets meaning by 5pm we were able to breathe a bit easier. Somewhat surprisingly we escaped damage after Chelsea’s comfortable 3-0 win at West Ham having only seen small trades on the match.

Sunday

My favourite film is The Great Escape and that was certainly what had happened to us when, having sat on the high-side of City on the Supremacy market, we only saw small amounts getting with Pellegrini’s men to our huge relief at the final whistle due to Spurs’ total capitulation. Manchester United’s trip to Cardiff split the money, with the ‘pros’ siding with the Home team team and the “Joes” getting with the Red Devils. A balanced book at last! We booked a small profit with the 2-2 draw.

And then, a measure of success. A chunky bet from a punter “getting with” Kansas City during their shock home loss to the Chargers. The other early NFL action was also positive for us as the majority of trades went our way and suddenly the horror that was the Merseyside Derby seemed a long time ago. ‘And Breathe’

The Denver at New England match-up had us on our toes preparing to lay some big trades but a surprisingly quiet event for us meant the week ended on a good note with the majority siding with the Broncos who lost 31-34 in OT. As our traders hit the pillow late on Sunday night, another week in the books and a decent profit to boot.
