Man U weak ahead of German game
Just can’t get my head around Man U at the moment. I seem to get them wrong in every game. It’s safe to assume they are not currently the team they were. The Premier League table tells you that’s a fact with them currently in sixth, seven points off the leaders.
It’s hard to imagine the ‘old’ Man U throwing away a lead against Cardiff as they did at the weekend and it was certainly not unexpected as Man U didn’t ever seem to play confidently when they were ahead and had a degree of nervousness about them.
However, just as you start thinking about taking them on – they pop up with a result like the 1-0 win at Old Trafford against Arsenal.
The question for tonight is how will they get on in the Champions League Group A match against Bayer Leverkusen. The reverse fixture saw Man U run out 4-2 winners at Old Trafford and Man U have never been beaten by the German side:
Sep 2013 C League Man Utd 4-2 B Leverkusen
Nov 2002 C League Man Utd 2-0 B Leverkusen
Sep 2002 C League B Leverkusen 1-2 Man Utd
Apr 2002 C League B Leverkusen 1-1 Man Utd
Apr 2002 C League Man Utd 2-2 B Leverkusen
The market signals at our sister company Star Sports were weak this morning as punters wanted to be on Bayer Leverkusen and the draw, which is a result that wouldn’t do either side any harm.
Robin van Persie and Nemanja Vidic will miss the match through injury, and David Moyes will no doubt be bearing in mind Sunday’s clash with Spurs.
David Moyes’s side go into the match on the back of a 10-game unbeaten run.
Leverkusen have won their last eight home Champions League group-stage matches and will no doubt be a much bigger threat to Man U than they were in Manchester.
Not sure there’ll be many goals in this one – unlike last time.
