Starting the week going long at Carlisle
Heavy ground forecast at Carlisle this afternoon which is a tough course at the best of times and I’m hitting the buy button on Star Spreads on the distances market at around 49.
Relatively small field sizes and the fact we have two three mile plus races on the card makes me a lot happier to go long here.
We are looking for an average of seven lengths per race which I don’t think is unreasonable and I would be hugely disappointed if don’t get at least one race of a 15 length or more make-up (remember the maximum make-up in jumps races is 30 lengths in a race.
The distances finished well under today’s spread at the last Carlisle meeting here (also on heavy) earlier this month – but the make-up of the cards today invites me more as a buyer.
