Goal bonanza at the Etihad

Published On January 15, 2014 | By dominic | Star Spreads

Plenty of moaning on the football front from bookmakers about the run of winning favourites over the weekend and it’s hard to see they’ll gain any respite tonight at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City take on Championship side Blackburn in take two of their FA Cup third round game which ended 1-1 at Ewood Park.

The history book paints a grim picture for Blackburn….

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Jan 2014 FA Cup Blackburn 1-1 Man City
Feb 2012 Premier Man City 3-0 Blackburn
Oct 2011 Premier Blackburn 0-4 Man City
Apr 2011 Premier Blackburn 0-1 Man City
Sep 2010 Premier Man City 1-1 Blackburn
Jan 2010 Premier Man City 4-1 Blackburn
Aug 2009 Premier Blackburn 0-2 Man City
May 2009 Premier Man City 3-1 Blackburn
Dec 2008 Premier Blackburn 2-2 Man City
Dec 2007 Premier Man City 2-2 Blackburn

It looks straightforward for City who have won their last 10 home fixtures.

Even allowing for Manuel Pellegrini making some changes and the fact he’ll have one eye on Saturday’s home clash in the Premier League against Cardiff they should easily prove strong enough to brush aside Blackburn whose boss is remaining positive.

Gary Bowyer says his team will relish the role of the underdog.

“We’ve got everything to gain. No one outside of our dressing room gives us a prayer and they are situations we quite like.”

City will be boosted by the expected return of Sergio Aguero after his calf injury. Aguero remains City’s leading scorer this season with 19 goals.

Blackburn have won the trophy on six occasions, but not since 1928 and that wait looks certain to be extended tonight.

We suffered a small loss by going low on goals at Craven Cottage (make up 3) but have to be a buyer at 3.75 with Star Spreads. Surely there is limited downside and it could be bonanza time. How nervous would you be selling, put it that way?
