Fulham better of the two out of form teams

At face value Fulham look a good option to beat Sheffield United at Craven Cottage in their fourth round FA Cup replay which ended 1-1 at Bramall Lane.

Mind you Man City looked good at ‘face value’ too last night and look what happened at the Etihad 🙁

Fulham are woefully out of form in the Premier League and now propping up the entire table but Sheffield United have got massive problems of their own in League One and are fighting to get out of the drop zone.

New Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen has had a tough honeymoon period but has bolstered the side significantly in the January transfer window.

It is clear that Premier League survival will be his biggest priority but a good cup will also give increasingly frustrated Fulham supporters some hope. Sunderland and Crystal Palace have both started to put wins together leaving Fulham looking increasingly vulnerable at the foot of the table.

Meulensteen is likely to rest a few key players tonight ahead of a daunting trip to Old Trafford on Sunday but surely Fulham should make the most of their home advantage and beat the Nigel Clough led team that are two leagues inferior?

Sheffield United won’t make life easy for the hosts, they have already beaten Aston Villa in the competition and survived with 10 men against Fulham for nearly half the match at Bramall Lane.

It’s the superiority index again, hopefully with more success than last night and hopefully Fulham can prove why they are two leagues apart.
