Bayern Munich v Man U (7.45pm SKY)
After a few recent reversals it was nice to get back in the money last night with a profit of 212.50 points thanks to the bookings in the Chelsea v PSG game.
The final make up was 80 (bought at 58 on Star Spreads) – and it was looking like it might get even better at one stage. Unlucky, in a way, to not get a red when you get eight yellows to different players. But perhaps I was getting greedy?
The action is at the Allianz Arena in Munich tonight for the second leg match between hosts (and defending champions) Bayern and Man U who upset the odds by holding the rampant Bayern to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
The ‘to qualify’ odds suggest that Man U have twice as hard a job as Chelsea did last night but I’m not sure I see it that way.
Sure, Bayern of course have the advantage, not least of which because of the away goals rule (not something I’m a fan of, but a subject for another day and Chelsea fans can’t speak highly of it !).
Bayern would progress with a 0-0 draw but that could also be their Achilles heal. A temptation to ‘over’ defend.
Not that it’s terribly relevant, but Bayern Munich at least showed signs of their invincibility when they were cracked at the weekend when Augsburg ended their record 53-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga with a 1-0 victory.
Add to the mix that there is seldom much between these two teams and you start to get the feeling Man U are being a little too overlooked in the market:

The bookings market again appeals. We saw last night how much is at stake at this stage of the Champions League and we are buying at a lower starting point tonight.
Another eight yellows would be very nice. And if one converts to a red, even better.
