Benfica v Juventus

Real Madrid progressed, as predicted, last night but I’m still not really sure how!

It was incredible to see Bayern with so much possession yet failing to capitalise. However, in the end Real probably should be taking a three goal lead to Germany as they missed two clear cut chances.

As it stands and on the evidence of what I saw last night I’ll be taking Bayern to progress to the final.

It’s to the Europa League tonight – the competition that seems to go on ad infinitum.

Benfica v Juventus looks the best semi-final and is live on ITV at 8.05pm.

It’s been a while since they last met….. even I was in shorts back then…

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
May 1968 European Cup Juventus 0-1 Benfica
May 1968 European Cup Benfica 2-0 Juventus

Juventus have had a great domestic season – they have an eight point lead at the top of Serie A with just four games of the season left. They will be boosted tonight by the return of Carlos Tevez who has been suffering from a muscular injury.

Jorge Jesus’s Benfica have also had a terrific season, winning the league and the Portuguese Cup.

They were beaten finalists in the competition last year at the hands of Chelsea.

I’m selling bookings in both semi-finals tonight.
