Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq is back looking at the League Two play off final at Wembley between Burton Albion and Fleetwood.

Throw a coin.

And let fate decide…

Heads: BURTON
Tails: FLEETWOOD

It’s not quite as bad as that but I’m not sure it can be much more than evens each of two for ANY team to win ANY play off final match.

We saw the drama unfold in spectacular style again at Wembley yesterday when Rotherham were 2-0 behind in regulation time AND behind in the penalty shootout but came good to win in the end, thanks in part to a spectacular volley from Alex Revell and later on goalkeeping heroics from Adam Collin.

Today, the market prefers Fleetwood in a battle which will see one of the teams promoted to the third tier for their first time.

If Fleetwood win then they will achieve an unprecedented sixth promotion in 10 seasons.

The last time this pair met it was a convincing win for ‘The Cod Army’ when they met at Burton in January.

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Max last 10 only)
Jan 2014 League Two Burton 2-4 Fleetwood
Dec 2013 FA Cup Burton 1-0 Fleetwood
Dec 2013 FA Cup Fleetwood 1-1 Burton
Aug 2013 League Two Fleetwood 2-3 Burton
Feb 2013 League Two Fleetwood 0-4 Burton
Aug 2012 League Two Burton 0-1 Fleetwood

Fleetwood finished top of the play off teams in the regular season but that can often prove a hoodoo.

Burton are not a team that traditionally score many goals but are strong defensively so it’s unlikely we are going to witness a goalfest.

However, the Burton defence may come under more pressure than normal With Ian Sharps being suspended following his second red card of the season during the first leg against the Shrimpers.

That could be a vital difference and open up the game for more goals than the market expects.

As such I’m buying goals with Star Spreads at around 2.45.
