Fourth in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot last month an excellent run and represents Richard Hannon on what could be a huge day for the stable.
SENNOCKIAN STAR (BUY FOR 3 points at 7)
The Star Sports fixed odds guys reported support for this one this morning. From Mark Johnston’s Middleham yard who always target and do well at Glorious Goodwood.
SALUTATION (BUY FOR 3 points at 12)
Another from the Johnston yard who comes into this on the back of an excellent second to Arab Spring in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Elsewhere on the card the Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) at 2.30 is the first feature race of the day and Richard Hannon saddles three of the eight runners including the red hot favourite Beacon.
The Hannon yard has won this three times out of the last five and there can be no doubting of the credentials of Beacon who took up the running at the furlong marker at Sandown to win the listed Dragon Stakes by four lengths with plenty left up his sleeve.
The runner-up Mukhmal challenges again today but it’s mighty hard to argue a case for that form being turned around.
Hannon also would appear to have the keys for the main race on the card with Toormore in the Lennox Stakes (Group 2) at 3.05. He was unbeaten as a two-year-old and won the Craven Stakes at Newmarket in good style on his reappearance. Since then though he has disappointed, finishing 7th in the 2000 Guineas and then only beating one home in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. The drop back in trip by a furlong should see him get back on winning form. Garswood won this last year but that came on good to soft ground.
