Our daily columnist and pundit S.P.Read Esq. looks ahead to the third day of GLORIOUS GOODWOOD on Thursday with a recommended bet on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

Setback yesterday 🙁

After 159 points profit on the opening day I’m afraid 93 points was swallowed up yesterday with the poor run of Made In Rio.

There was some damage limitation with Brockwell who was fourth.

Star Spreads have the same cracking offer today – if you ‘buy’ a horse on any on the GLORIOUS GOODWOOD races you get the SP added to the index if it wins !!! It’s the offer that has applied to just Channel 4 races but extended to cover all races at the meeting.

When you buy horses you are doing so on the market that pays out:

50 points for a WIN
*** PLUS THE SP BONUS ***
30 points for second
20 points for third
10 points for fourth
0 points for unplaced.

The two I like in the opener at 2.05 are:

RAINBOW ROCK (BUY FOR 3 points at 15)

Romped home at Beverley. Only gets into this because of the penalty for that win and looks the pick of the Mark Johnston trio.

EXAMINER (BUY FOR 2 points at 9)

Consistent sort who is often placed and therefore a good proposition for this market.

If Ivawood fails to win the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood this afternoon then I wouldn’t fancy being the stable cat much tonight.

So far at least it hasn’t been Hannon’s week – they have yet to get on the scoreboard although a winner at Sandown last night might signify a turn of fortune for the second half of the week.

Ivawood is amongst the early favourites for next seasons 2000 Guineas and it’s easy to see why.

He made all the running to beat Jungle Cat in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket last time out and can confirm that form again with Jungle Cat who is 3lb better off at the weights.

“Ivawood has been compared with Toronado and we have seen the similarities at home, and he is certainly high up in our pecking order of two-year-olds,” Hannon told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk.

Most of today’s early market movers, as reported by the Star Sports fixed odds trading desk, have come away from Glorious Goodwood.

It’s often the case when there’s a big meeting. A few fly ‘under the radar’ and there’s been a particular move for the Ed De Giles trained debutant Shingle in the 6.45 at Ffos Las tonight. It doesn’t look a strong contest and the Michael Bell trained favourite Wedding Wish is favourite more by default than anything she has achieved.

The Galway Festival continues and the best bet there could be Captain Cullen in the mile handicap at 3.00. Considering he slipped on the bend he ran really well to take second behind Vector Force last time out at Naas.
