No joy with Aston Villa last night – I thought Aston Villa were absolutely woeful and QPR thoroughly deserved their 2-0 win.

I’m making a rare move tonight – tipping in a non televised game. And it’s got nothing to do with Chelsea being in my bad books after messing up my bet on Sunday and conceding in the last minute. (Shrewsbury Town v Chelsea is live on Sky at 7.45pm by the way!).

However, no TV action for me. It will just be like the old days – checking the latest scores on Ceefax. Well not quite that old perhaps…..

I’m heading to Craven Cottage for the Carling Cup 4th round clash between Fulham and Derby – two Championship sides who are at opposite ends of the table.

Derby are currently topping the league with 26 points from 14 games with Fulham in 20th and already facing a battle against successive relegations.

Fulham v Derby
Capital One Cup
8pm (NOT TELEVISED!)

HEAD TO HEAD RECORD
(Maximum 10 matches)
Aug 2014 Championship Derby 5-1 Fulham
Mar 2008 Premier League Derby 2-2 Fulham
Oct 2007 Premier League Fulham 0-0 Derby
Feb 2005 FA Cup Fulham 4-2 Derby
Jan 2005 FA Cup Derby 1-1 Fulham
Jan 2002 Premiership Derby 0-1 Fulham
Oct 2001 League Cup Fulham 5-2 Derby
Aug 2001 Premiership Fulham 0-0 Derby
Nov 2000 League Cup Fulham 3-2 Derby
Apr 1984 Div 2 (old) Derby 1-0 Fulham

Despite their relative league positions and despite Derby brushing aside Fulham 5-1 in August I have a feeling that Fulham can get something from tonight.

The league positions probably help Fulham with the thought that Derby’s priorities will firmly now be on promotion and this may be seen as a ‘disposable’ match for them.

But there’s more to it than that. Fulham are starting to play decent football again under Kit Symons and come into this on the back of a 3-0 win against Charlton on Friday night.

So the recommendation is a BUY of Fulham’s superiority at around 0.2 with Star Spreads.
