Thankfully, the Euro 2016 Qualifiers are out of the way, at least for the foreseeable future – they certainly weren’t kind to the column’s P&L.

Mind you it’s the first time a match has been abandoned due to a drone. Hopefully, that’s one element of the game that won’t catch on. Vanishing spray YES, drones NO.

For the time being though it’s me droning on….. the Premier League is back on Saturday and I thought I’d take an early look today given that I am going to be looking at the racing on Friday and Saturday in the daily column with Future Champions Day at Newmarket on Friday and Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday.

It’s to the Etihad first though and the Saturday lunchtime kick off between Man City and Spurs.

Last season this fixture resulted in a 6-0 demolition job by City who were a goal up after just 14 seconds.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is adamant that result will have no bearing on Saturday: “It’s history and it’s a different game, different players. It’s not important now to think in the past. It’s important to look forward. I don’t have any concerns about these results.”

It’s hard though to see a result other than City winning again and current league positions of 2nd and 6th to be confirmed.

City have actually made a really solid start to the season in their attempt to defend their title but it’s been slightly overshadowed by Chelsea’s near perfect start.

City have drawn matches with both Chelsea and Arsenal and inexplicably lost at home to Stoke but since then the ship has been steadied and before the break for the internationals they won their last two games – both away games against Hull and Aston Villa.

Spurs come into this on the back of a 1-0 win against Southampton who themselves are in good form but the win, courtesy of a goal from Christian Eriksen, ended a sequence of four games without victory for Spurs.

With home advantage I’m taking City to see off Spurs and I think there will be plenty of goals. I’m selling the time of the THIRD MATCH GOAL with Star Spreads at around 71 minutes.
