S.P. Read Esq: Robins v Robins
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P.Read Esq. looks ahead to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match tonight between CHELTENHAM v BRISTOL CITY and finds the best opportunity available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
After the pain in Paris and despair in Dublin it was terrific at Tipperary with the winning distances on Star Spreads yesterday. I bought at 31 and was home and hosed by the fourth race. The make-up ended up at a round 50 – and was enough to swing the column back into profit in October.
The break for the Euro 2016 Qualifiers is now upon us as we look forward to the delights of England v San Marino on Thursday but before the excitement (!!) I’m off to Cheltenham…..
Not the races, although it’s not too long to wait now for their season opening Showcase meeting on 17th and 18th October. It will be very much a different landscape at jumping’s HQ with the builders currently being in.
But it’s the football tonight and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round match between the two ‘Robins’ Cheltenham and Bristol City (LIVE SKY 7.45pm) which might well be a better betting opportunity in all honesty than England v San Marino which should be goal a minute for England but of course won’t be.
The big question will be how important this is for Bristol City? They are currently leading League One with an impressive 25 points from their opening 11 games and clearly promotion is a priority. They are also hot away from home and unbeaten in their last eight away games.
Cheltenham, on the other hand, are 10th in League Two and struggling with their current form and are now without a win in their last six games.
They get a boost tonight by the return of defender Troy Brown and midfielder Jason Taylor after both being sidelined through suspension.

I think Bristol City will continue their good form tonight and show the gulf between the two sides. Possibly naively but I’m always a believer that even though sides have bigger targets – winning is never a bad thing.
I’m a buyer of Bristol City with Star Spreads at around 0.7.
