I’ve been opposing England of late, to some cost and it’s becoming a little like ‘system working well, please send more money.’ Steadfastly opposing a team and not willing to alter your opinion can be the road to the poor house but I STILL don’t believe England have transformed since their disastrous World Cup campaign in Brazil.
And this will be a big test for them tonight because, make no mistake, the Scot’s will be up for this big time and the pace of the game should be a lot different from the typical friendly. It might just mean a bit more for Scotland – and the supporters are thinking that too with England having to return some of their ticket allocation.
England’s recent form is good purely in terms of results (I accept that) but so too is Scotland’s under the stewardship of Gordon Strachan and the home side have lost just one of their last 10 games.
Strachan said of tonight’s encounter: “We want to compete and make it as difficult for the other team as possible. England have got terrific players. They were comfortable winners against Slovenia. They could have stepped up any time they felt like it.”
