Man City welcome the formidable Barcelona to the Etihad this evening including messrs. Neymar, Suarez and Messi for what looks a mouth-watering Champions League clash.

The two sides, of course, met in last season’s tournament at the same last 16 stage with Barcelona winning both legs by an aggregate score of 4-1. Man City are still attempting to reach the quarter finals for the first time.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Man City manager Pellegrini said: “I think that last year was different to this year. We arrived at this stage of the Champions League after playing 19 games in two months, and I don’t think it was our best moment. But I hope this year we will do it after not playing so many games. I think that our team is in a good moment, although we also recognise we are going to be playing against a very strong team.”

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has the luxury of almost a full squad to choose from and that includes Luis Suarez who is set to play his first match in England since leaving Liverpool to join Barcelona in the summer.

For City, striker Wilfried Bony is expected to make his first start and James Milner is fit again after a knee injury but Yaya Toure is suspended.

Barcelona topped Group F with 15 points from six games and a goal difference of 10 whilst in contrast Man City amassed 8 points with a goal difference of just one when finishing second in Group E.
