S.P.Read Esq: Man City v Newcastle
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League game on Saturday (5.30pm, LIVE SKY) between MAN CITY v NEWCASTLE and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
In poker, they often talk about having ‘position’ as being more important than the actual cards you are dealt. Having the best position is being the last to bet when you have the advantage of seeing what everyone else has done and can call the shots on your rivals.
On Saturday, Man City have ‘position’ over Chelsea as they kick off later at 5.30pm but if Chelsea beat Burnley at Stamford Bridge, as the odds suggest they will, then the gap between the pair will surge to 10 points. In this scenario ‘position’ will count against Man City as their home game against Newcastle goes from a ‘must win’ to a ‘desperate to win’ affair.
Despite Newcastle beating City 2-0 in the Capital One Cup in October their Premier League record against City is shocking – losing all 10 of their last league meetings and they have not beaten them now in 16 games. And the stats get worse….. in the last four league meetings, City have scored 12 goals without reply !!!
Although Newcastle have collected five points from their last three League games they have come against easier rivals.
City will be looking for a straightforward game here with their Champions League tie against Barcelona on the horizon next week and could be boosted by the debut of £25m signing Wilfried Bony who has returned from Africa Cup of Nations duty along with Yaya Toure.
