At the time it seemed a shock result when Cambridge United held Man U 0-0 but given the seismic results the following day it turned out to be a good result – for Man U !!

Chelsea, Spurs and Man City all exited the Cup and suddenly Man U’s chances of silverware this season have got a whole lot shinier.

Of course they are long odds on to win the replay at Old Trafford, around 1/12 at best, but for League Two Cambridge it’s a case of job done already. They’ve hit the financial jackpot with this tie.

Chairman Dave Doggett said: “There’s a lot of speculation about how much money the club will be getting but it certainly looks like it’s going to be in excess of £1.5 million. Hopefully we can get the stadium done and start putting in some proper toilets. Some toilets and tea bars and more hospitality… that’s what we will do.”

Cambridge returned to the Football League this season after a nine-year absence and flirting with financial oblivion.

Of course that COULD well be an argument to suggest they could play well here – with absolutely no expectations of going any further and playing relaxed football.

But equally there could be a bucket load of goals as Louis Van Gaal is not going to show any mercy with his team selection. Man U have scored two or more goals in eight of their last 11 home games and that average should be exceeded here.

The winners are away to Preston or Sheffield United in the next round.

Terrible start to the month on the Southampton game but hopefully can repair some of that damage tonight with a similar trade – this time on the 3rd match goal market on Star Spreads.

I think be able to sell at 65 looks quite generous on the basis that surely there will be plenty of goals tonight – unlike the first leg.
