S.P.Read Esq: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Champions League match at 7.45pm on Wednesday (SKY) between REAL MADRID v ATLETICO MADRID and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadIt’s the second set of second leg quarter final matches in the Champions League tonight and the most interesting looks to be the derby match between Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid.

Hopefully, as neutrals, we can look forward to something a little more exciting than the 0-0 in the first leg. That draw extended the run to seven games that Real Madrid have failed to beat their neighbours this season.

No wonder that nerves are beginning to creep in and even with home advantage tonight – Real are weak in the market. Trevor Harris from Star Sports reported at lunchtime the weakness behind the Real price and they are on the drift to 10/11.

At face value, Real should be very pleased with their 0-0 first leg scoreline and the chance to move into the semi-finals tonight with home advantage at the Bernabeu where their record is so strong (winners of 17 of their last 20 home matches).

But the real blow to their chances is the team news. And this is where you can understand the weakness in their price…..

Real strikes Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema have both been ruled out with calf and knee injuries respectively.

That will leave Cristiano Ronaldo, Javier Hernandez and Jese Rodriguez as Real’s fit strikers.

Boss Boss Carlo Ancelotti said: “I have the best squad in the world and it is important to focus on the players who are going to play and not on those who are not playing. The answer will be to play fresh players, who are enthusiastic, fit, and who can help the squad. We have not beaten Atletico this season because they are a very strong side with one of the most solid defences in the world. It is difficult to score goals against them. It will be a close game, hard-fought in all areas and intense. I do not think that Atletico will be in a hurry to score and neither will we.”

The Star Spreads market makers are taking no chances with bookings setting the buy price at 83 – but with it so delicately poised and it being such a highly charged match I STILL want to be a buyer.
