Crystal Palace have not won in the league at Anfield for 24 years and surely the script doesn’t say that is going to change today of all days.

It’s all about Steven Gerrard today on his final Anfield appearance for Liverpool and he will be given of honour ahead of the match.

Gerrard made his debut at Anfield as a substitute, playing the final few minutes against Blackburn Rovers on 29 November 1998.

Since then he has made 708 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, scoring 185 goals not to mention his 114 England caps, many of them as captain.

Aside from the sentimental issues of the day, this match looks quite tricky for punters as it’s pretty much a dead rubber.

Palace are more than safe of relegation and Liverpool are resigned to the fact that qualification for the Champions League is now beyond them.

Both sides are also now fading. Brendan Rodgers’ side have won just two of their last seven Premier League games, whereas Palace have now lost four in a row.

Anfield will be buzzing and it’s hard to think of any other outcome but a convincing Liverpool win – and if they get a penalty I’ll give you one guess as to who might be taking it ?
