S.P.Read Esq: Wimbledon 2015

Published On June 29, 2015 | By S.P.Read Esq. | Star Spreads

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the start of WIMBLEDON 2015 and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadWimbledon gets underway today and the temperatures will be soaring in line with the price of strawberries at the All England Club, SW19.

In the Mens tournament the market has three players in single figure odds Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Roger Federer who also just happen to be the last three winners.

If you add Nadal to the above, then you have to go as far back as 2002 (Lleyton Hewitt) to find a winner outside of that four.

Nadal is playing no where near his best at present and I’ve put a line through his chances this year.

The one player who threatens the big trio stranglehold is Stanislas Wawrinka – winner of the French Open but grass isn’t his best surface.

In time honoured fashion the defending champion gets things underway on Centre Court at 1pm this afternoon with the first match – Novak Djokovic v Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Andy Murray has been in superb form this year – pushing Djokovic all the way in the semi-finals Paris and winning at Queen’s Club, which, like Wimbledon, is on his preferred grass surface.

He certainly looks a different man to the one who arrived at Wimbledon last year with back worries.

Married to Kim Sears in April and a blossoming professional relationship with his coach Amélie Mauresmo has seen Murray arrive in good form in his bid to follow up on his 2013 win.

If the seedings work out, Murray will meet Federer or Tomas Berdych in the semis and then possibly another date with Djokovic in the final.

In the Ladies, Serena Williams is a warm favourite to collect her fourth Wimbledon title.

Maria Sharapova, winner in 2004, looks interesting at 17 on the Women’s 60 Index on Star Spreads which means we’ll need her to get to the semi-finals to secure a profit.

The Russian faces British no.2 Jo Konta on Centre Court this afternoon.
