S.P.Read Esq: Newcastle v Norwich

Published On October 18, 2015 | By S.P.Read Esq. | S.P.Read Esq

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League 4pm game on Sunday between NEWCASTLE v NORWICH and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadA Norwich win will surely spell the end for Steve McClaren and that’s rated only a 15/8 chance with Star Sports fixed odds.

McClaren said on the Magpies poor start: “It’s not alien to us but we were hoping to do better. It’s not gone that way. There’s no magic wand. We’ve just got to stick together and hopefully that first win will come soon.”

It’s 15 days since Newcastle last played and they’ve had a long time to recover from a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Man City and come into this propping up the table and still in search of their first Premier League win of the season.

They won’t find Norwich easy to get past. The Canaries have scored in all but one of their league games so far this season and their only away win in the league this season also came in the north east at Sunderland.

Newcastle will be without goalkeeper Tim Krul who is out for the season but defenders Daryl Janmaat, Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummett and midfielder Jack Colback have returned to training and are in contention to play.

Goals tend to be at a premium when these two sides clash. The last five meetings have produced just five goals.

I fell short on the bookings front yesterday having sold at 47 on the Spurs v Liverpool came and the market making up at just 30. Star Spreads have lowered the bar slightly for buyers today at 45 and on the basis that this game could get quite desperate, particularly if Newcastle fall behind I’m repeating the bet from yesterday.

Today’s ref Anthony Taylor is averaging exactly 45 so far this season so it shouln’t be too much of an ask.
