S.P.Read Esq: Tottenham v Liverpool

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League 12.45pm game on Saturday between TOTTENHAM v LIVERPOOL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadJurgen Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool gets underway proper with a trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime but how much impact the affable German could have made already is questionable.

Liverpool will have to stop conceding goals for them to make progress up the table. It’s now eight matches without keeping a clean sheet and they face a Spurs side who are the polar opposite with a strong defence and who are the only unbeaten team since the opening weekend.

That said, there’s not much between them in the table. Spurs are 8th, Liverpool 10th and the pair are just split by a point.

Liverpool do have a superb recent record against Spurs – winning the last five head to heads in the Premier League and showed their current well-being with a 4-1 win over Man City last month.

Spurs will be without the injured Son Heung-min, Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Alex Pritchard. In addition Eric Dier serves a one-game ban.

It will be fascinating to see Klopp’s first starting XI but he won’t be able to pick Joe Gomez or Danny Ings who have both suffered anterior cruciate ligament injuries and could miss the rest of the season. Christian Benteke, Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino are all sidelined by injuries but Philippe Coutinho is fit.

The fixture usually produces goals and there should be a great atmosphere at the Lane for this one. That could spill over on the pitch too and the buy of bookings with Star Spreads makes appeal at 47. Today’s ref Craig Pawson is only on an average of 40 so far this season in eight games but Spurs have the poorest record in the league with yellows and I am not sure there will be much downside on the lay.
