S.P.Read Esq: Crystal Palace v Sunderland

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League game on Monday between CRYSTAL PALACE v SUNDERLAND and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadI can’t remember seeing Crystal Palace so short in the market for a home game in the Premier League – which speaks much more about their opponents tonight, Sunderland, than it does about their own form.

Short odds home win backers might take fright from this fixture last season which saw Sunderland run out 3-1 winners.

However, Sunderland are in wretched form this season and are the only team still win-less away from home, contributing to them being 19th in the table. If they could take all three points tonight they would move outside the bottom three and heap plenty more pressure on arch rivals Newcastle – so plenty to play for.

Sunderland’s manager Sam Allardyce said: “We are under enormous pressure because of the position we are in, with people talking about us being relegation fodder, but we have to accept that and handle it in the right way. I don’t want (us) to play with fear, just to go out there and express themselves as they have over several years, that is what will get us out of trouble.”

Palace hit a rocky period starting with a home loss to West Ham but have bounced back with a draw against Man U and an impressive win at Anfield against Liverpool in their last game thanks to Scott Dann’s late winner. They should certainly find Sunderland easier opponents tonight.

There have been red cards in the last two matches this pair have met at Selhurst Park and with Sunderland already in ‘Desperate Alley’ I am going to be playing with a buy at 48 with Star Spreads.

Tonight’s ref Martin Atkinson is averaging 47.5 points so far this season so hopefully there will be more upside than downside.
