S.P.Read Esq: Watford v Man City

The 2016 Premier League campaign got under way at lunchtime with yet another reminder that any team can beat any team. That was certainly the case last year and 2016 looks set to continue the trend.

At tea-time Watford have the chance to perform their own act of giant-killing as they welcome Man City. Such is the open nature of the table that Man City could find themselves out of the top three if they fail to beat Watford and Leicester and Spurs get results against Bournemouth and Everton respectively.
In short, there are no easy games and Man City look a little short against a Watford side who are on a terrific run of form – winning four games in a row, drawing 2-2 with Chelsea and only beaten 2-1 by Spurs last time by Son Heung-Min’s 89th minute winner.
Man City failed to take their chances in their 0-0 draw with Leicester over Christmas which was very much a case of two in form teams cancelling each other out.
Watford will be without defender Nathan Ake, who begins a three-game ban, but otherwise have no new injury problems.
For City, Kompany remains sidelined but Fabian Delph, Gael Clichy and Fernando are all expected to be available after recent injuries.
