S.P.Read Esq: Peterborough v West Brom

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the FA Cup replay on Wednesday between PETERBOROUGH v WEST BROM and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadFrustration yesterday with West Ham getting their first goal on 45 minutes for a profit on my first trade but the second trade on a third match goal bombing out. It was a good game but reinforced just how random football can be at times and the fine margins at play. So many woodwork strikes by both sides – it could have legitimately ended up as any one of around eight score permutations.

More Cup action tonight and West Brom twice let a lead slip at the Hawthorns with Jon Taylor’s 86th minute equaliser for Peterborough forcing this replay.

Apart from the financial benefits – it’s probably a match that both sides could do without. Peterborough are fighting hard to get involved in the League One play-off zone after their form slipped a little with consecutive defeats at the hands of Gillingham and Burton.

West Brom still have work to do in the Premier League to consider themselves safe. They are currently in 14th and six points off the basement three. It normally wouldn’t be too much of a concern but bear in mind the Baggies have to face Leicester, Man U and Arsenal in consecutive matches at the beginning of March.

The Posh have proved strong at home this season and have lost just one of their last nine games.

Both teams have their fair share of injury woes.

For Peterborough Michael Smith and Ricardo Santos are banned and Jack Baldwin is doubtful with a back injury.

Gabriel Zakuani is available after his hamstring problem but lacks fitness. Tom Nichols and Adil Nabi are both ineligible.

West Brom may be without Gareth McAuley, Craig Dawson and Jonas Olsson who all suffered injuries against Newcastle.

Jonny Evans is a major doubt and Chris Brunt, Callum McManaman and James Morrison remain out.

Both teams are therefore likely to have a fair amount of rotation. Peterborough manager Graham Westley said: “I am going to be surprised by what we produce, because the team I am going to put out on Wednesday is not going to be a group of lads that has ever played together before.”
