S.P.Read Esq: Shrewsbury v Man U

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the FA Cup game on Monday between SHREWSBURY v MAN U and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

SPreadOne thing I learned from the weekend’s FA Cup results was to forget about the clubs who are pre-occupied with the League.

Spurs and Man City being cases in point on Sunday.

Arsenal and Bournemouth being cases in point on Saturday.

In short, the FA Cup only seems to matter to them when there are no pressures in the League in terms of either titles, promotion or relegation battles.

A sad state of affairs for the FA Cup – but as punters we must adjust to the changing times.

It could be a case in point for Man U tonight who might see the FA Cup as the saving grace of their season. Equally, Shrewsbury will have their big night out but the grim reality for them is that they are deeply involved in a relegation battle at the foot of League One with their home form particularly patchy. They also have a massive ‘six pointer’ on Saturday against bottom placed Colchester to look forward to this week.

This is the first time the two clubs have ever met and Shrewsbury’s manager Micky Mellon said: “We will give it our best go and we won’t be overawed. We will make sure that we thoroughly enjoy the game and take it all in and give the best account of ourselves that we possibly can to represent this great football town. We’ve got to do certain things in a certain way to increase our chances of getting a result, so that’s what we’re working on and the mentality we’re approaching the game with.”

A home tie awaits the winners against West Ham in the quarter finals.

Man U’s injury list is growing. Goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to be out after suffering a knee injury. He becomes the 14th player on United’s injury list, which includes captain Wayne Rooney.

A good set of results yesterday (much needed) and a repeat of the same trade tonight favouring plenty of goals and a Man U easy win.
