S.P.Read Esq: Sunderland v Man U
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Premier League game on Saturday between SUNDERLAND v MAN U and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
Massive weekend of Premier League action with the top four playing each other on Sunday but ahead of that it’s the southern end of the table that’s of most interest.
Arch rivals Newcastle and Sunderland both have huge challenges ahead of them in terms of survival but are both up against odds-on rivals on Saturday.
Sunderland meet Man U in the lunchtime kick off at 12.45pm whilst the late televised game comes from Stamford Bridge with Chelsea taking on Newcastle.
The saving grace for both the North East sides is that their opposition have had their own frailties exposed this season, otherwise they would have been an even bigger price to come away with three points.
Just four points separate Newcastle and Sunderland in the table so ANY points today will prove extremely valuable and I think it’s Sunderland that have the best chance.
They are at least showing some fighting spirit under Sam Allardyce in 2016 with wins over Aston Villa and Swansea and draws against Bournemouth and Liverpool last weekend when they fought back from 2-0 down with two goals inside the last 10 minutes.
Allardyce, rather stating the obvious said: “We need to start putting a zero against us in games and, if we start doing that, we’ll win more matches. If we win more matches, we’ll get out of trouble.”
Louis van Gaal’s Man U are playing much better football but it’s never been easy for Man U at the Stadium Of Light even when Man U were more dominant. This fixture finished 1-1 last season.

Man U have plenty of injury woes with Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young all on the sidelines and Guillermo Varela, Phil Jones and Adnan Januzaj suffering injuries playing for the under-21 side.
It should be scrappy and I can’t see many goals so am buying the time of the first match goal at 40 minutes with Star Spreads.
