S.P.Read Esq: Chelsea v PSG

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to the Champions League game on Wednesday between CHELSEA v PSG and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

It’s pretty much take your pick of three between Chelsea, PSG and the DRAW in the second Champions League game of the day at Stamford Bridge (7.45pm).

If it follows the pattern of the earlier Zenit St Petersburg v Benfica match then we should be in for plenty of drama – Benfica came back from a goal down to win 2-1 with the last kick of the game – a real kick in the ‘you know what’ for draw backers.

PSG have been invincible domestically this season and hold a 2-1 lead from the first leg thanks to Edinson Cavani’s 78th minute winner. The good news, from Chelsea’s perspective, is they have an away goal which might well become a factor.

Captain John Terry misses this crucial match with a hamstring injury but Costa has been named in the starting XI by manager Guus Hiddink who said: “I’m very proud of him, the way he’s playing and, going not over the edge, but he likes to fight in the real way of the game. That’s what we like. I protect him and support him when he’s doing what he has done in my period at Chelsea. He frequently is scoring now, since December, January. Before he had this problem not scoring, as did the team. Let’s see and hope he can make it to the European level as well.”

Costa has scored only one goal in his past 15 Champions League games and will need to penetrate the PSG defence who have conceded just two goals in seven Champion’s League games this season if he is to improve on that record.
