S.P.Read Esq: Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich
Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Wednesday’s Champions League game at 7.45pm between ATLETICO MADRID v BAYERN MUNICH and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.
The second semi-final tonight between Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich with English ref Mark Clattenburg in charge at the Vicente Calderón Stadium.
The two heavyweights of Spain and Germany have only met once previously – which is quite surprising in itself – that was in the 1974 European Cup Final when Bayern won the replay 4-0.
Bayern are on course for a fourth successive Bundesliga title but this trophy has so far proved illusive to them. There would be no better way for Pep Guardiola to sign off than a Champions League victory before he takes over the helm at Man City and it’s not impossible yet for the two sides to meet in this year’s final!
Guardiola said: “In three years we have got to three semi-finals, but I know that people say if I don’t win the Champions League my work won’t be complete. But I’ve been very lucky to have experienced what I have in Germany. I think I am a better coach, a better person, more relaxed.”
He added: “In football, you have to adapt and we will adapt to get the best result we can. We know all the teams are difficult and Atletico are no exception. You can compare them to Barca and Madrid – when they play against the big European clubs, they can confound the favourites. It will be a great game, complete and fun at the same time, and we will do all we can to get the final.”
Atletico are currently slap bang in the middle of a tough fight for La Liga and I am wondering whether that might catch up with them, as it appeared to last night with Real Madrid who looked lacking in sparkle. They will also be without midfielder Diego Godin who has a hamstring injury.

The buy of bookings fell short yesterday but think it could be a good option again tonight especially with Clattenburg in charge. Generally European games tend to be a little more feisty than he is used to so could get busy with the cards.
