S.P.Read Esq: Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Thursday’s Europa League match at 8.05pm between LIVERPOOL v BORUSSIA DORTMUND and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

There was a superb atmosphere in Germany for the first leg of this quarter final and you can expect no less at Anfield tonight – particularly with the game so delicately poised at 1-1.

That away goal could yet prove crucial for Liverpool but they are the outsiders to qualify – despite now having home advantage.

Their Premier League form this season has been solid enough (8th in the table) and come into this on the back of an impressive 4-1 win over Stoke at the weekend. They’ve been particularly strong in this tournament and remain unbeaten.

The fact they are playing Jurgen Klopp’s former club adds further spice.

The match comes the day before the 27th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy and the 3,000 travelling Dortmund fans are planning to pay their own poignant tribute to the victims by holding up a mosaic spelling out ’96’ in black and yellow, the club’s colours.

On the pitch, Klopp feels that Liverpool have to take their chances. He said: “We’ve been presented with a great chance. We certainly won’t be flying a white flag. We’re aware of Dortmund’s quality. They can play better but so can we.”

He added: “We’ve had a few wonderful atmospheres in the Europa League – the best for sure was against Manchester United. This is the level we have to jump over. Having the crowd is a bigger advantage for us than having the away goal.”
