S.P.Read Esq: France v Portugal (Euro 2016 FINAL)

Our daily columnist and pundit S.P. Read Esq. looks ahead to Sunday’s Euro 2016 Final between FRANCE v PORTUGAL and finds the best opportunities available on Star Spreads, the home of sports spread betting.

The Euro 2016 Championships will certainly not go down as a vintage one. Hope that’s not been unduly unfair but there have been few games that have really set the pulses racing coupled, of course, with England’s wretched innings.

Iceland and Wales both out-performed but ultimately dropped away tamely and we are left with the hosts France and Portugal who have been one of the most boring teams in the whole tournament.

Of the few matches I have enjoyed – France beating Germany 2-0 was one of the most entertaining – even though I sold the time of the third match goal.

France are hovering around evens for the win in 90 minutes and that looks about right on the evidence of the tournament so far and on the head to head records between the two sides. If anything, it’s surprising not to see France odds-on given they have won their last 10 games against Portugal. Their overall record is W18, D1, L5.

A few experts are speculating on the fact that Portugal have had an extra day to prepare and come into the final on the back of an easier win in the semis and this might be a major factor. I can’t really have that – and in any case it is countered by the fact that France are playing in front of an expectant nation at the Stade de France in Paris.

Coach of France Didier Deschamps is again expected to have the luxury of having all 23 players available for final selection.
